  • In episode 59, Yuma Tsukumo uses this card during his Duel against Nistro. He Xyz Summons this card by overlaying "Gagaga Magician" and "Grandram". Yuma then activates this card's second effect to detach an Overlay Unit and inflict 800 damage to Nistro. Later Nistro activates "Fighter's Charm" to switch this card to Attack Position and make its ATK equal to its DEF. "Heroic Champion - Kusanagi" then attacks this card and Nistro takes 200 damage due to "Desert Field". Yuma then activates "Overlay Buster" to increase this card's ATK by 500, but Nistro activates the effect of "Heroic Champion - Kusanagi" to negate and destroy "Overlay Buster" and increase its ATK by 500. Yuma then activates "Fighting Fund" to prevent this card from being destroyed in battle though he still takes damage. On Nistro's End Phase, the effect of "Fighter's Charm" and "Heroic Champion - Kusanagi" expire, returning the ATK of this card and "Heroic Champion - Kusanagi" to their original value (shortly after the Field Spell changes to "Sunset Showdown"). Later Yuma activates this card's first effect to detach an Overlay Unit and increase this card's ATK by 1000 as well as decrease the ATK of "Heroic Champion - Kusanagi" by 500. This card then attacks "Heroic Champion - Kusanagi", but Nistro activates "Heroic Change" in response. Nistro then activates the effect of "Heroic Champion - Kusanagi" to negate and destroy "Heroic Change" and increase its ATK by 500. This causes both monsters to be destroyed in a Double KO. Due to the effect of "Sunset Showdown", both players take 300 damage. Nistro then activates "Xyz Xtreme !!" to allow both players to Special Summon one Xyz Monster from their Extra Deck with the same Rank as their destroyed Xyz Monster. Nistro Special Summons "Heroic Champion - Excalibur" while Yuma Special Summons "Number 39: Utopia".
    • This card also appears in a flashback Yuma has when he realizes that Nistro kept his Dueling style the same regardless of the circumstance in contrast to him due to him seeing the Duels the other finalists participated in.
  • In episode 82, this card is shown when Yuma is rearranging his Deck.
  • In episode 85, Yuma uses this card during the Battle Royal between Yuma, Shark, and Rio Kastle against the brainwashed students controlled by Girag. He uses this card to attack a brainwashed student directly, defeating him in the process.
  • In episode 88, this card is shown on Yuma's desk while Ray Shadows explains to Yuma he could see Astral from the beginning when he met Yuma.
  • In episode 145, Yuma uses this card during his Duel against Astral. He Xyz Summons this card by overlaying "Gagaga Mancer" with itself via "Gagagamirage" (due to the second effect of "Gagagamirage", the Attribute and Type requirements for the Xyz Material of the Xyz Monster Yuma was attempting to Summon are ignored). After "Gagaga Samurai" is Xyz Summoned and Yuma activates its effect to allow "Gagaga" monsters to attack twice this turn, Yuma activates this card's effect to detach "Gagaga Mancer" and increase this card's ATK by 1000 and reduce the ATK of one monster Astral controls by 500, but Astral reminds Yuma that the second effect of "Number 39: Utopia Beyond" prevents his monsters from being affected by card effects. Yuma activates the second effect of "Gagaga Mancer" to banish it from his Graveyard and increase this card's ATK by 500 when it attacks this turn during damage calculation only. This card then attacks "Chaos Number 39: Utopia Ray" and the effect of "Gagaga Mancer" is applied. This card then destroys "Utopia Ray" (as its effects were negated by "Grave Chaos"). This card then attacks "Chaos Number 39: Utopia Ray V" and the effect of "Gagaga Mancer" is applied. This card then destroys "Utopia Ray V" (as its effects were negated by "Rank-Up-Magic Dark Force"). Later "Number 39: Utopia" attacks this card. Yuma activates "Half Unbreak" to prevent his monster's destruction and halve the damage he takes, but Astral activates "Absolute Buster" to negate the effect of "Half Unbreak" that prevents a monster's destruction. "Utopia" then destroys this card. Later Yuma activates "Gagagarevenge" to revive this card. This card then attacks "Utopia" (surprising everybody else, including Astral). Suspecting Yuma must be planning something with one of the cards on his field or hand, Astral activates the effect of "Utopia" to negate the attack. Yuma reveals it was a bluff and activates "Light Wing Bumper" to negate the effects of "Utopia" and decrease its ATK by 800. Later "Number 39: Utopia Roots" (whose ATK was 2000 via "Number Fortification") attacks this card, but Yuma activates the second effect of "Gagaga Samurai" to switch it to Defense Position and change the attack target to it instead. Astral activates "Rank Revolution" to negate the effect of "Gagaga Samurai" since its Rank was higher than "Utopia Roots". "Utopia Roots" then destroys this card. Astral then activates "Overlay Accel" to detach an Overlay Unit from "Utopia Roots" and let it attack again. In the final episode, Yuma activates "Halfway to Forever" (via "Danger Draw") to overlay this card and "Gagaga Samurai" from the Graveyard in order to Xyz Summon "Future Number 0: Utopic Future". Yuma detaches this card for one of the effects of "Utopic Future" at an unspecified point.
