[Regarding the effect "You can target 1 monster on the field; banish it, then return it to the field."][1]

  • It starts a Chain Link and can be activated by this face-up card in the Spell & Trap Zone.
  • At resolution, apply "banish it". Then, if it was banished successfully, apply "return it to the field".[1]
  • Banishing and returning to the field do not happen at the same time.

[Regarding the effect "If your opponent activates a card or effect: You can target 1 face-up monster whose effects are negated; banish it, then return it to the field."][1]

  • It starts a Chain Link and can be activated by this face-up card in the Spell & Trap Zone.
  • At resolution, apply "banish it". Then, if it was banished successfully, apply "return it to the field".[1]
  • Banishing and returning to the field do not happen at the same time.

[Regarding the effect "Before resolving an opponent's card effect that targets this face-up card, banish this card until the End Phase of the next turn."][1]

  • It does not start a Chain Link and is applied by this face-up card in the Spell & Trap Zone.
  • It is applied before resolving an opponent's card effect that was activated by targeting this card in the Spell & Trap Zone. (It is applied even during the Damage Step.)
  • Returning this card to the Spell & Trap Zone during the End Phase of the next turn does not start a Chain Link.
  • During the End Phase of the next turn after this effect was applied, if you do not have a Spell & Trap Zone that can be used, this card is placed in the Graveyard.

Q&A Rulings

  • Q: If the 1st effect of "Interdimensional Matter Translocator" is activated by targeting a monster whose battle position was changed this turn, or a monster that was Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned, Special Summoned, or Set this turn, can I change the battle position of the monster that returned to the Monster Zone during the same turn?
If a monster that declared an attack this turn is banished by the 1st effect of "Interdimensional Matter Translocator" and then returned to the Monster Zone, can I change that monster to Defense Position during Main Phase 2?
A: In both cases, you can change the monster's battle position.[2]
A: Yes, you can. If "Platinum Gadget" is banished temporarily and then returned to the field, it is no longer treated as being Link Summoned this turn.
The same is true for the following cards with the text "Cannot be used as Link Material the turn it is Link Summoned": "Spright Sprind", "Union Carrier", "Muckraker From the Underworld", "Spright Elf", "Gravity Controller", "Abyss Keeper", "Appliancer Kappa Scale", "Appliancer Dryer Drake", "Appliancer Vacculephant", "Appliancer Propelion", "Appliancer Laundry Dragon"[3]
