Q&A Rulings

  • Q: If my Topologic Gumblar Dragon is Extra Linked, can I activate its second effect if my opponent has no cards in their hand?
A: The second effect of Topologic Gumblar Dragon cannot be activated if your opponent has no cards in their hand.[1]
  • Q: While my opponent has 1 card in their hand and my Topologic Gumblar Dragon is Extra Linked, I activate its second effect that discards cards from my opponent’s hand. If my opponent chains the effect of their Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit from their hand, so that they have no cards left in their hand, what happens?
A: In this scenario, if your opponent has no cards in their hand when the effect of Topologic Gumblar Dragon resolves, you cannot discard any cards with that effect, so your opponent does not take 3000 damage.[2]
  • Q: While I have 2 cards in my hand and my opponent has no cards in their hand, a monster is Special Summoned to a zone my "Topologic Gumblar Dragon" points to, and its effect activates. In this situation, how does the effect resolve?
A: Even if your opponent has no cards in their hand, as in this scenario, the effect of "Topologic Gumblar Dragon" will activate. When it resolves, you choose to discard either 1 or 2 random cards from your hand. Since your opponent cannot discard any cards, the effect finishes resolving with you discarding as the last effect to happen.[3][4]
