Forum:Deck Contest 21: Archetype Decks

From Yugipedia
Jump to: navigation, search

The next installment of WDC is to make a deck based around a weak archetype. As always, the goal is creativity, although it doesn't hurt to make the deck as strong as you possibly card. You'll be able to post your decks on October 3rd. Slightly late/early entries are fine.

  • Must use the September 2011 Banlist.
  • OCG and TCG cards are fine.
  • Do not post your deck up until a section has been created for them.
  • Your deck must be original, you must make/test it yourself.
  • Read Forum:Weekly Deck Competition Overview if you have any more questions, if they are not answered, please ask on our talk pages.
  • This is not the same as a previous deck competition, where you could invent a boss card for an archetype and make a deck around it. Instead, you must use already existing cards to support an archetype.

Registration

There will be one slot per archetype, meaning that 11 contestants can participate.

Questions

Could I maybe do Cyclers? I was hoping that they would be one of them. I had a pretty good idea, and they are MUCH less supported than most of these archetypes... Synchro Maniac10 (talkcontribs) 22:45, September 26, 2011 (UTC)

Sure. I didn't really think that anyone would want them. BF2 Talk Deck Guides 22:51, September 26, 2011 (UTC)

Cool! Thanks! ^_^ Synchro Maniac10 (talkcontribs) 22:53, September 26, 2011 (UTC)

I didn't really like this idea too much, but I'll have fun anyways. :P Well, if I can't do Cyclers, I suppose I'll do this one, even though it has decent support. I'll remove my sig if I can't do those. Synchro Maniac10 (talkcontribs) 22:53, September 26, 2011 (UTC)

I removed it from Gusto. Synchro Maniac10 (talkcontribs) 22:54, September 26, 2011 (UTC)

I call Dark Scorpions! NotARealUsername (talkcontribs) 04:11, September 27, 2011 (UTC)

My deck isn't working out. Cyclers are tougher than they look. xD They also don't function like you think they would. Sorry for the trouble, and thanks for the oppurtunity! Someone else can try them if they want. Synchro Maniac10 (talkcontribs) 21:32, September 27, 2011 (UTC)

)I would like to join for Boss Rush deck. Thanks!--Ultimatebomber (talkcontribs) 23:58, September 27, 2011 (UTC)

Why not? Looks fun. Lappyzard (talkcontribs) 02:23, September 28, 2011 (UTC)

Looks like I'm using Guardians. Too bad Butterfly Dagger - Elma is banned. Elite Wolf (talkcontribs) 04:26, September 28, 2011 (UTC)

Personally I wouldn’t mind a crack at Crashbug's. User:Taylor ace

Does anyone want to remove Cyclers from the Deck Contest? I asked a admin a few week ago and he said it not a archetype. But I don't control the contest, so keep it, if you like. WinterNightmare (talkcontribs) 22:51, September 29, 2011 (UTC)

What about Mist Valley? Or is it too late to add them? NotARealUsername (talkcontribs) 08:00, September 30, 2011 (UTC)

They're already decent on their own. BF2 Talk Deck Guides 12:45, September 30, 2011 (UTC)

Can we add Bamboo Sword or Chrysalis without Neo-Spacian support? Bamboo Sword can led to dead draw and I never heard about a Chrysalis Deck without Neo-Spacian. WinterNightmare (talkcontribs) 23:46, September 30, 2011 (UTC)

Chrysalis does nothing without Neo-Spacians, Bamboo Sword would just mean Exodia FTK. BF2 Talk Deck Guides 00:05, October 1, 2011 (UTC)

Goblins?NotARealUsername (talkcontribs) 03:35, October 2, 2011 (UTC)

I'm going to have to pull out. My internet connection hasn't been working well enough over the week for me to make a deck (in fact, I've only just been able to post this). Battlemaniac (talkcontribs) 19:15, October 3, 2011 (UTC)

Going to pull out, I've had issues with the deck. ---Dark Ace SP™ (Talk) 01:10, October 4, 2011 (UTC)

One more day to post. BF2 Talk Deck Guides 15:04, October 5, 2011 (UTC)

Posting time is up! BF2 Talk Deck Guides 18:21, October 6, 2011 (UTC)

Wow... a lot of people didn't post their decks. Synchro Maniac10 (talkcontribs) 20:18, October 6, 2011 (UTC)

Would it be too late for me now if posted my deck up?NotARealUsername (talkcontribs) 03:59, October 7, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah, it would be, sorry. BF2 Talk Deck Guides 20:40, October 7, 2011 (UTC)

BF2 - Sphinx

The Sphinx monsters are generally weak and difficult to use. However, subtract Theinen from the Equation, add Pyramid of Light and Horn of the Phantom Beast, and suddenly you have easily accessible monsters with high ATK power and draw power. Beast King Barbaros is an obvious choice for this sort of deck, also being a target for Horn, while Gene-Warped Warwolf was chosen over Fusilier Dragon for its higher base ATK and it being a target for Horn. Rai-Oh works because it negates summons even while Skill Drain is out, which is quite nice. Dark Bribe, while perhaps unorthodox, is meant to protect the nine Continuous Trap Cards. The lack of Heavy Storm is due to having so many continuous cards. BF2 Talk Deck Guides 18:19, October 3, 2011 (UTC)

Lappyzard - Penguins

So, this deck is all about keeping Penguin Soldier and Nightmare Penguin alive long enough to bounce stuff and then Tribute them for Big Emperor Penguin. Rabbit brings out Xyzs, and then I can Leviair him back for another Xyz. Penguin Knight is mostly a level 3 tech so I can get him and Bolt with the Emperor and still have 2 Bolts for Rabbit, or vice versa. Since my monsters are all A. Not going to be attacking, B. Under Level 4, or C. Xyz monsters, Gravity Bind helps the deck a lot. I opted not to run Heavy Storm because I have a lot of Traps. Bottomless and D Prison simultaneously protect my Penguins and set up Leviair plays. The deck actually runs really smoothly. I hope you all like it! Synchro Maniac10 - Genex

This deck was quite fun to build and play with. In case you couldn't tell by looking, this deck focuses on Genex Ally Axel, and to a lesser extent, Genex Ally Triforce. Basically, you search out the 2 Tuners with Undine/Neutron, then use CyDra, The Tricky, or even Instant Fusion to go for Axel when combined with one of the Tuners. From there, you revive monsters and beat them down with their now ridiculously high attack (Neutron has 3600 when summoned with Axel's effect) before Synchro Summoning before you get the negative effect of having the revived monster removed from the game. This is where Helping Robo for Combat comes in. In addition to him being Lv 4 and Light (perfect for going for Triforce), he has 3200 when revived by Axel, enough to outrun really anything common this format, and adds great draw power, hand management, and even speed to a certain degree. He even lets me set up for Axel if I don't have the big guy out already. Pot of Consistency is also great for allowing me to get the cards I need for Axel. The Traps allow for protection so I will not lose Axel so easily, which is a pain to try and recover him.

In summary, this deck uses beatsticks combined with speed and Toolboxing the Graveyard and Extra Deck to get the best card for the situation at hand. It's actually very consistent, very fun, and actually pretty strong in general. Considering how most Genex decks are, I think this deck is one of the best approaches to the Archetype that there is. I hope you like it! :D Synchro Maniac10 (talkcontribs) 00:34, October 4, 2011 (UTC)

Elite Wolf - Guardians

This doesn't look like it should work, but it does...somehow.

I use the lightsworn engine to mill Ceal and the equips to use later with Phantom of Chaos and Hidden Armory. Monster Reincarnation is to retrieve monsters I need and discard the cards I don't (like Necro Gardna). With all the milling and discarding, I will usually have an empty hand-where Grarl shines. Maha Vailo is there to become a beater and keep the equips on the field. And with all the Lights and Darks, I was able to put in BLS-which is also another target for Phantom of Chaos.

And in the unlikely event that you are able to synchro summon Power Tool Dragon, it will help get the equips you need to your hand (its not needed, but it helps). Elite Wolf (talkcontribs) 02:16, October 4, 2011 (UTC)
