Problem Solved Lores[edit]

Thank you for trying to help us with couple article in the old, but as Dino said, we should following the printed lore that is published or at least closer to official translation (if it's Japan or have Anime image) that is posted. We can updating them when they are released in correct printed lore. If they are not release, then we can't put it up. --FredCat 18:54, February 26, 2012 (UTC)

Call of the Haunted in DK[edit]

I am sure you're right, I still see that image of bone-face duelist played that and many of his non-zombie monsters kept returning to the field with powerful Attack points while against Joey Wheeler. But I am sure it was Trap card... if you think I am wrong, please explain ;-) --FredCat 23:58, April 16, 2012 (UTC)

We're both right somewhat. Yes, it is a Trap Card in the anime, but only in GX, 5D's, and ZEXAL. It was shown as a Spell Card in the Japanese version of the second series anime although in the English anime it is shown as a Trap Card which is what the TCG/OCG version is supposed to be. Cardsknower (talkcontribs) 00:06, April 17, 2012 (UTC)Cardsknower

You're make a good point - I kept forgot that 4kids redesigned and colored them to correct frame as real life cards... Second Season of Duel Monster is quite messy with all those cards release... But can't fault you for that part. It's Writer's decide to make it following the Manga version, only less violence. --FredCat 00:07, April 17, 2012 (UTC)

To clear that up...[edit]

Saw your recent edit summaries. If you add cards to lists that only appear in the dub, please put "dub only" in parenthesis behind them. They can also be listed on the card appearances pages, but do not add them as episode appearances to the main card articles. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 00:13, May 2, 2012 (UTC)

Got it and I watched the original episode and the two I added are the only dub only cards on the table. Every other card on the table was in both versions, but I had to watch real carefully in the episode to be sure.Cardsknower (talkcontribs) 00:31, May 2, 2012 (UTC)Cardsknower

RE:Decklists and Featured Cards for the second series anime episodes[edit]

As much as I can help you, I will do it at Summer time. If you know me well, I spend my free time uploading and updating Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime cards, since most of them need to be in good quality and people sometime need to see the japanese effect, in order to understand the card. If I help you right now, then most of my free time is gone. WinterNightmare (talkcontribs) 18:17, May 12, 2012 (UTC)

Mirror Gate Eff in Anime/OCG[edit]

I believed you for that - only because Anime just break the game itself. So it's such to be happening, and you should post it there and explain in the summary that it is there. It's not hard work if you used that method I gave. --iFredCat 16:24, May 26, 2012 (UTC)

Also, This was already explained. Hope that helps. --iFredCat 16:28, May 26, 2012 (UTC)

5D's Decklists[edit]

Hey, Cardsknower. Not sure if you know or not, but while you're doing the 5D's Decklists, update the Decklist template too. We're now using |effect monsters = instead of Effect Monsters. Likewise for any other type of monster and all types are supported, including Tuners, Spirits, etc. Also, if a card isn't used but appears in someone's hand or is Set, the best thing to do is add that to the Featured Duel as well. At the point that hand shot is shown, write "X's hand contains", then the cards. Thanks, Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 00:06, July 22, 2012 (UTC)

Oh, and I've started adding Featured cards sections, but I'm going backwards. I started with the later episodes. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 01:36, July 24, 2012 (UTC)

Drawn cards[edit]

Only mention when a card is drawn when it explicitly shown. The same goes for Setting cards. Don't say what it is unless it shown at that moment. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 17:02, July 27, 2012 (UTC)

Okay got it. I am going to check episodes 4, 5, and 6 to see if I miss any shown cards in the featured Duels when I have enough free time.Cardsknower (talkcontribs) 17:28, July 27, 2012 (UTC)Cardsknower

RE: "Curse of Rose's" name[edit]

The English dub of this episode has Akiza saying to Commander Koda before "Curse of Rose" activates: "Nice move, but I still have my Trap: 'Rose Curse'!"

It may have been dubbed incorrectly, but that is why I edited that page as such. --1exodiafan1 (talkcontribs) 04:21, August 14, 2012 (UTC)1exodiafan1

Anime Lore[edit]

I am agreeing with you - Kaiba only using it, not both players. So let's hope he listened to our responds - I did comment after you post it, which show that I supported your logical. --iFredCat 00:06, September 8, 2012 (UTC)

RE: Soul Demolition's effect[edit]

Kaiba literally said "from both player's Graveyard". Also your anime lore does not explain how Kaiba's 3 monsters get banished. BTW, you don't have to revert everything I do. For example, you don't have to remove the Japanese lore. ZingerZheng (talkcontribs) 20:53, September 9, 2012 (UTC)

Sorry I did that, but that was not my true aim at that revert. It was just to get the anime lore you deleted back onto the page.Cardsknower (talkcontribs) 23:07, September 9, 2012 (UTC)Cardsknower

RE:Episode 123 page[edit]

Sorry, I thought the Other Decklist was for Kaiba thinking abnout winning the Egyptian Gods Cards. If it that doesn't work, then please delete the Other Decklist. WinterNightmare (talkcontribs) 01:43, September 15, 2012 (UTC)

RE:5D's episode 31[edit]

Honestly, I can't see the two spell cards in the security's hand. WinterNightmare (talkcontribs) 16:01, September 21, 2012 (UTC)

RE:Episode 161 page[edit]

The other flashback was where Joey told Rex that he has nothing, but to blame himself. Joey then recall all his hardship that he endure while he is telling Rex to keep trying and don't give up. [1] WinterNightmare (talkcontribs) 04:54, October 10, 2012 (UTC)

"Killer Needle" is in the pile of cards when Rex and Weevil get beaten up. This card can also be seen in the dub [2]. For "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" and "Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon" it appear during one of Joey's hardship [3]. It is hard to see as Joey's face blend with the background. This is from Episode 137, without Joey's face [4]. WinterNightmare (talkcontribs) 01:54, October 11, 2012 (UTC)

RE:Episode 124[edit]

It appear in Yugi's flashback where Joey give "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" to Yugi, Joey told Yugi to keep the card. This happen before Yugi told "Archfiend of Gilfer" to direct attack Joey. WinterNightmare (talkcontribs) 01:14, October 13, 2012 (UTC)

Anime Card Lore[edit]

When you update/create an anime card lore, please do not use the PSCT format. That format is only used for Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL anime/manga, and some later chapters in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's manga. If you need help standardizing one of these lores in the old fashion, I'm generally the go-to guy for that. Thank you. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 00:16, November 8, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah about that. That was not what I was told when I was creating anime lores for some cards. This was especially with some cards that were errata'd and as such they no longer matched up to how they were shown in the animeCardsknower (talkcontribs) 00:31, November 8, 2012 (UTC)

Also, when you edit an anime card lore, don't add new stuff based on what happened in the episode. Check the Japanese anime lore (if provided) before doing so. Remember that this is the anime and not real life, so stuff may not happen in the order they are supposed to. Even though you provided a disclaimer when you do so, I don't want to have go through anime card lores and make sure they match the Japanese anime lores exactly. An example is what you did for "Darksea Float". (I'm going to have that Japanese text transcribed and subsequently translated in due time.) --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 04:57, December 3, 2012 (UTC)

Another example that you had nothing to do with is "Dotedotengu", whose Japanese lore was written incorrectly on the card itself. We still use the written lore though to be accurate, but made a note about the mistake in the Duel summary and a hidden note that is only viewed when the page is opened for editing. Consider making notes like that sometimes in Duel summaries, instead of changing the card lores. An example of "Notes" section: look at the bottom of GX episode 95 --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 05:03, December 3, 2012 (UTC)

Well, I did mention "Dotedotengu" in case you forgot. However, another case came up in the case of "Toon World". In the Japanese anime, the card look like this. In Japan, they tried to make it the same when it was released in the Japanese version of "Pharaoh's Servant" (and looked the same identically, as seen here). However, it was eventually changed to the simpler text of "Activate by paying 1000 Life Points."

Here is what the original text roughly translated to: "Pay 1000 Life Points when this card is played. Also, on each of your Standby Phases, if you do not pay 500 Life Points, destroy this card. When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard, you gain Life Points equal to the amount of Life Points you paid until that point."

Remember that Pegasus used the card with the EXACT same text. However, he did not follow what it said, and it seemed like it had different effects. The change in effect was SO drastic that we decided to leave the interpretation of how its effect was used in the episode in the "animelore" section. This does not apply for small differences though. If there is a small difference in Japanese text and how the effect is used in the anime, we simply make a note of that in "Notes" section of the episodes it was used in. In this case, you might want to do so. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 00:04, December 5, 2012 (UTC)
Yes, yes, I know. It is the reason for wording errors like "Flamvell Baby" and "Skill Successor. Apparently Konami (or UpperDeck, whichever company had control at the time) tried to shorten the text by introducing a shorter phrase, "give it XXXX ATK." Whatever it was, they did a half-assed job, and other future card texts ended up still saying "have this/that card gain XXXX ATK," which signifies a divided "card text" department. Tl;DR Konami/UpperDeck (and the episode creators) are not very consistent. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 01:32, December 5, 2012 (UTC)
I know what you mean, and several people have brought it up before. This idea is currently being juggled around the admins. However, I don't think anyone is going to do anything until they roll out the new template as seen here. So we do is wait =/. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 02:08, December 5, 2012 (UTC)
You misunderstood me. I think the idea of a new "|lore" box with the interpreted PSCT lore might be nice. However, I do know how to create that new "|lore" box. The only thing I would know how to do is a make a separate section in the "|animelore" box, with an up-to-date lore in it. However that would look messy.
It might be nice if the literal, translated lore stood side-by-side the PSCT lore version of it, in 2 separate boxes. There is also a problem that comes with it. If such a thing occurred, new users might take it upon themselves to offer their own "PSCT" lore interpretations of the effect, which would make this sort of like a "fan-fiction" card creator deal. yugioh.wikia.com deals with the official. Other possible problems that could be created, but idk at the moment. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 03:11, December 6, 2012 (UTC)

Electromagnetic Turtle[edit]

Regarding this edit, was "Electromagnetic Turtle" explicitly shown to still be in the Graveyard after "Guardian Eatos" used its effect? If it wasn't, then there is no discrepancy, since the effect to end the Battle Phase can be activated at any point in the turn the card is sent to the Graveyard. It doesn't need to remain there to activate it.--YamiWheeler (talkcontribs) 19:52, November 18, 2012 (UTC)

It was explicitly shown. After Rafael's attempt to deal the finishing blow failed, Yami Yugi is shown taking this card out of the Graveyard to explain how he saved himself from losing.Cardsknower (talkcontribs) 16:20, November 23, 2013 (UTC)

Surprise Attack From Beyond[edit]

Right now, I'm cooperating with 2 other users to get the Japanese lore for the text translated and transcribed. Bear in mind that this is the anime, and cards may word some effects in a simple way, but mean so much more (without including it in the card text). From what I'm getting from the Japanese episode (the English dub doesn't really help), it seems that the monsters Summoned during the turn that card was activated return to the field, and another Battle Phase is conducted. (Hence the name "Surprise Attack from the Shadows", as the "Shadows" could represent the Graveyard.) --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 06:19, November 25, 2012 (UTC)

Duel Summaries[edit]

Just take it to the live chat. I can wait for you. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 01:12, December 14, 2012 (UTC)

Ooooh, thank you for pointing that out (the "Valkyrie Brunnhilde" thing). Derp moment for me. =P --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 01:54, December 15, 2012 (UTC)

Ehh... I have kind of had enough. Duel summaries are called summaries for a reason. They should not explain card effects, they should only explained how they are carried out. Example: "Magical Alms" in Yu-Gi-Oh! - Episode 195. The effect is already listed on the "Magical Alms" page, we don't need to write it again on the Duel summary page.

Bad example: Seto activates "Flat Level 4", which lets both players Special Summon 1 Level 4 monster from their Decks. He Special Summons "Vorse Raider" and Joey Special Summons "Baby Dragon".

Good example: Seto activates "Flat Level 4", Special Summoning "Vorse Raider" from his Deck while Joey Special Summons "Baby Dragon" from his Deck. (For long effects explained in Duel summaries, this clears up a lot of space than shown here.)

Again, I repeat, Duel summaries should explain *how* the effects are carried out. If we want to know what the effect actually is, that's what the card pages are for. To compensate for this, I propose that we link every card the *first* time it is mentioned *per turn* (so readers won't have to scroll up to find where it was mentioned for the first time during the Duel to use the link, if they forget the effect).
Example: *Turn 1* Yami draws "Pot of Greed" and subsequently activates it, drawing 2 cards. He banishes "Pot of Greed" from his Graveyard to Special Summon "Spell Striker". *Turn 2* Seto draws "Pot of Greed" and subsequently activates it, drawing 2 cards. He activates "Monster Reborn", Special Summoning "Vorse Raider" from his Graveyard in Attack Position.
Terms like "Graveyard" and "hand" will only be linked once per Duel summary, since they aren't used that often. What do you think? --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 08:15, December 16, 2012 (UTC)

For colons, I guess we can re-input them into Life Points. I was only against it because the newest Deul summaries don't have them (I think). But if we use colons for separating a monster's name from the changes in its ATK and/or DEF, I think it's okay. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 08:22, December 16, 2012 (UTC)

I don't use colons because I think its superfluous. I don't particularly care if you want to use them though. Also, it was agreed upon that we don't need to list differences between TCG and anime on the episode pages. You can remove any of those that you see, actually. No one's gotten around to a systematic removal of them yet. The animelore parameter should suffice.
For effects, I generally list the whole effect in the summary. When a card has a cost to using it such as "you cannot Summon the rest of this turn", it should be listed. It answers questions like "he had X in his hand, why didn't he use it" before they get asked.
In regards to linking, general consensus is once per article, per section. I don't think there's much value to linking them again, someone who needs the link can always use control+F to find the link. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 23:21, December 17, 2012 (UTC)
I agree with most of your ideas Cheesedude. I have stopped putting in colons for Life Points and I will probably stop putting those in for monsters, Speed Counters, amongst other thing. The second noting I already agree since that would explain a couple of things. The problem with anime lore is that some cards(like "Roulette Spider", "Dark Sanctuary", and "Photon World") have anime lores that are literally translated since UltimateKuriboh believes they should be so. However even with small noting on the episode pages, some users will not obey the small warnings and they will probably change the lore. I am still trying to find a way to put this information in(the agreeing idea I had with UltimateKuriboh was only a temporary idea), but the only thing I am worried about is how are we going to show this since we don't want anonymous contributors putting in fanfiction anime lores based upon on how the cards were used in the anime.Cardsknower (talkcontribs) 00:52, December 18, 2012 (UTC)
