Windy's partner

Windy's partner is an unnamed character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS anime. He is one of the six victims of the Lost Incident, and he is the Origin of Windy. After Windy's personality was rewritten by Lightning, Windy involved his partner in a reckless driving accident in an attempt to eliminate him.

Design

Appearance

Windy's partner is a young man who has hair that is shaped in a similar shape to Windy's head and Jaden Yuki's hair, and he sports a standard dark blue school uniform with yellow buttons.

Biography

The boy who would become the Origin of Windy was kidnapped by Dr. Kogami for the Hanoi Project. He was locked in a room with VR equipment and forced to Duel, and he was starved and electrocuted if he lost. After six months he was rescued, and likely suffered PTSD from the Incident as the other victims had. Despite the trauma he had been through, he was able to move on with his life, returning to school and making friends and feeling hope that he could put the Incident behind him.

Unbeknownst to him however, the Ignis that had been created from him had been observing him after being corrupted by another Ignis, Lightning. Windy's new and twisted personality caused him to view partners as unnecessary, and in order to prove so he attempted to kill his partner. As Windy's partner was bidding his friends goodbye one evening under a bloodmoon, Windy took control of a car and had it collide with his partner.

It is never directly stated in the Japanese version whether Windy's partner was killed by the crash, but after Varis reveals the event to the other victims of the Lost Incident, they operate under the belief that he was indeed killed, and Theodore Hamilton decides to avenge him when he Duels Windy himself. In the dub however, Varis states that Windy's partner "isn't a part of this world anymore", implying that he is deceased.
