Noblesse
Noblesse is an ability used by Ehoko "Epoch" Kamijo in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!! anime. It gives her voice incredibly forceful and compelling power, but she had difficulty controlling it and secluded herself in a box for the safety of those around her.[1]
Etymology[edit]
"Noblesse" is a pun on "no breath", as the ability bears similarities to Tiadosia "Tiger" Kallister's exceptional breathing abilities. It is derived from "noblesse oblige", the idea that those who are privileged should be generous, noble, and responsible to those who are less privileged as part of their nobility. 信 can mean trust, sincerity, honesty, and religious devotion, 呼 can mean to call out or cry out, and 吸 can mean to inhale, or magnetic attraction. 呼吸 together means breath, but can also mean harmony and peace, likely relating to how the "Noblesse" can settle disputes.
Trivia[edit]
- Tiadosia "Tiger" Kallister, a possible descendant of Epoch who closely resembles her, is shown to have incredibly powerful breath in Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS.[2] It is unknown whether this is also an exhibition of Noblesse.
