Omori, Menjaburo

Menjaburo Omori (おおもり めんジャブろう Ōmori Menjaburō) is a character in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GO RUSH!! anime. A self-proclaimed student of noodle dipping[2], Menjaburo was reported to have gone missing after his encounter with Yuna Goha, only to be revealed that he is directly under her employment.

Appearance[edit]

Menjaburo closely resembles Saburamen from the Yu-Gi-Oh! SEVENS anime. Menjaburo is a young boy with spiky blue hair and hazel eyes, sporting what resembles a ninja-style kimono with red and burgundy as the primary and secondary colors respectively, complete with a forehead protector with the kanji "大" on it, sashes tied around his wrists and torso, and a staff shaped like a pair of chopsticks.

Personality[edit]

Menjaburo is boisterous and arrogant when it comes to matters regarding tsukemen, and as such fiercely defends his honor as a chef when questioned. He has tunnel vision to a degree as a result, being distracted from delaying Yuhi and Yuamu Ohdo during his Rush Duel with Manya Atachi and not noticing the twins sneaking away.

Menjaburo is much friendlier when not allied against the UTS group, happily hosting the Galaxy Cup with Ranran Nanahoshi. He is incredibly loyal to those who make impressions on him, resulting in his alliance with the Rovian Bandits.

Biography[edit]

History[edit]

According to public records, Menjaburo was reported to have gone missing after having an interaction with Yuna Goha at the Ramen Hut.[2] Menjaburo had ordered tsukemen at the restaurant, only for Yuna to throw naruto slices in his eyes, which fell onto a piece of broccoli, a day Menjaburo vowed to never forget. Menjaburo subsequently joined the Rovian Bandits alongside Yuna.[3]

Second arc[edit]

After Yuhi and Yuamu Ohdo escaped from Badloon Castle, Menjaburo was sent to capture them. Menjaburo waited in Under-Underground Town, anticipating both that the Ohdo twins would cross through it to return to Badloon Castle and that they would need to recover, luring them with a promise of the first bowl of tsukemen in his restaurant being free. He planned to keep the twins and their accomplices, Manya Atachi and Bochi, distracted by the deliciousness of his food, but the four of them remained unaffected, instead feeding the tsukemen they ordered to the Velgearians aboard Valvelgear. Incensed that all the tsukemen he had cooked had been for free, Menjaburo unveiled himself and challenged them to a Rush Duel, a challenge that Manya accepted after claiming Menjaburo's noodles lacked charm. Bochi explained Manya had previously portrayed a tsukemen chef in Hanako the Naruto, convincing Menjaburo that his tsukemen honor was on the line. Throughout the Rush Duel, Menjaburo and Manya clashed over their ideology regarding tsukemen. Menjaburo gained an early lead with his Equip Spell Card, but Manya made a comeback with "Dian Keto the Gourmet Maiden", claiming she could see through Menjaburo. Menjaburo challenged Manya to guess the ingredients of the dipping sauce she had eaten. Manya guessed all but the broccoli stick, and Menjaburo prepared to defeat her, but Manya also correctly guessed the broccoli stick, shocking Menjaburo, who relayed his history with Yuna. Menjaburo defeated Manya, satisfied that he had preserved his tsukemen honor, but to his shock he realized that the Ohdo twins had snuck away during the Rush Duel and lamented his failure, but vowed to remember Manya. Afterwards Menjaburo reported his failure to Yuna, but Rovian recited a verse about finding a wonderful world hidden in the back garden, which Yuna realized was a reference to the Space Treasure, and Menjaburo and Yuna thanked her for her guidance.[3]

The Rovian Bandit deduced the Space Treasure was under the UTS Main Office, and visited the premises with the intention of purchasing the property to gain access to the Space Treasure. Menjaburo cheerfully greeted the Ohdo twins, Manya and Bochi when they found them and though UTS refused to sell the property, Yudias Velgear agreed they would consider the offer if Rovian Rush Dueled him. During the Rush Duel, Menjaburo joined Yuna and Venus Ganimi in cheering Rovian on, praising Rovian's generosity in letting Yudias draw a new hand, though knowing she intended to exploit it with "Prophecy Phrase of the Colors of the Wind". Although Yudias struggled to Rush Duel with only two Monster Zones due to Valvelgear missing a thruster with which to produce them, he counterattacked with an Equip Spell of his own, "Galactica Xiphos"; Menjaburo was shocked to realize a spy in the Rovian Bandits had likely been the source of the Equip Spell. MIK agent Manabu Sogetsu was then alerted to something entering the solar system; Rovian and Camos deduced it was likely the Great King of Terror.[4]

Deck[edit]

Menjaburo uses a Noodle Mask Deck. The Deck focuses on beatdown tactics by utilising fast Summoning of WATER Attribute Pyro Type monsters and the recycling effect of "Masked Noodle Broth Tsuke Mendius" to retrieve its Equip Spell Cards and continuously power-up its high-ATK monsters. Most cards in the Deck are parodies of the "Mask" series.
